LBJ
Producer and DJ Jonas Verwijnen has been involved in music since childhood. After starting his musical career by playing in several Helsinki based alternative bands Jonas got interested in producing electronic music and started his solo project LBJ in ´98.
With his fierce live performances he quickly became a sought after performer in events around Finland, playing at all the major clubs and music festivals. Named one of the "rising stars of breakbeat " by the International Dj Magazine LBJ presents a sound that is a fresh mixture of an organic live band, cutting-edge electronica and deep, warm analogue bass. He has performed alongside artists including Rennie Pilgrem, Stanton Warriors, Meat Katie, Databass, Atomic Hooligan, Jay Cunning, Iain Taylor, DJ Friendly, and many more.
Jonas was the first Finnish artist signing on the influential London based breakbeat label Botchit and Scarper with tracks included on the compilation Botchit Breaks 5 and two 12' singles on the same label ("Syvälle Sinne" / "This One Goes Out To You" and "Haikea Juoppo"). He has also had a release on the new Heavy Disco label where his track "Graffiti Techno" received many plaudits, and his new Motorhead bootleg with the Young Punx has ripped up floors across the globe.
LBJ Live
Three years a go LBJ got an idea for a live show as he was asked to do a performance in the most famous nordic electronic music festival; Koneisto. He wanted to do it a bit special, not just a solo performance, he wanted a pure live experience. So, the story begins. With a few weeks of planning he had the lineup ready: one drummer, one scratch DJ, a wicked MC and himself operating the laptop and the mixer.
The LBJ LIVE BAND sound is unique in many ways. It compiles the roughness of breaks and modulation of playing and jamming it live and with the attitude of a rock band. Its a mixture of electro-breakbeat-punk-funk-dub-ethnic and also with the slavic melancholia that the Finns have in their blood.
